1. Causes of Acute prostatitis

Acute prostatitis is a common male genitourinary infection, and E.coli is the main pathogenic bacterium, which accounts for about 80% of all the pathogenic bacteria. 

There are two ways of Bacterial infection: the blood infection and direct infection, in which direct infection via the urethra is more common.

The acute prostatitis may caused by acute infections of skin, tonsils, dental caries, intestinal tract or respiratory tract. The bacteria can reach the prostate gland via blood, causing inflammation of the prostate gland.

Men with this disease often have chills, fever, fatigue, pain in the lower back and genital area, urinary frequency and urgency often at night ( 3 to 5 times per night), burning or painful urination, retention of urine, losing interest in sex, pain after sexual intercourse, impotence or premature ejaculation, body aches, and a demonstrable infection of the urinary tract, as evidenced by white blood cells and bacteria in the urine. Acute prostatitis may be a complication of prostate biopsy.

If an Acute prostatitis patient has the above symptoms for more than 7 to 10 days, and his body temperature continues to rise, and the count and neutrality of white blood cell increase, the formation of prostatic abscess should be suspected.

3. Tests for Acute prostatitis

(1) Laboratory test

White blood cells are of 15,000 to 20,000 / mm3, and the cell nucleus obviously shifts to left. The microscopic examination of Urine shows that a large number of white blood cells and pus are found in the urine, and the pH value of the urine is beyond seven. Of the three cups, debris and pyuria are found in the first cup of urine under the exam. Urine in the second cup is clear, without white blood cells. Urine in the third cup is cloudy, with large number of debris and epithelial cells. Pathogens are found via Urethral discharge examination and bacterial culture.

(2) Digital rectal examination

Catarrhal inflammation: The prostate gland is in normal or enlarged size; having tension; anterior lobe or median lobe is locally irregular. 

Follicular inflammation: the prostate gland has scleroma, or the whole gland is swollen, the prostate gland is plump, enlarged, and soft, with mild tenderness.

Substantial inflammation: the prostate gland enlarges significantly, and becomes hardened; big tension; with obvious tenderness, Local part of the gland may also be soft; Give the prostate gland a slight press and pus would be discharged.

4. Case of Acute prostatitis

A patient with Acute prostatitis was cured by me in ten days.

(1) Personal information: 

Mr. Zhang, Construction worker, male, forty years old, disease time: May, 1998. Address: Business school in Wuhan City.

(2) Major symptoms and previous treatments:
